Looking for Spanish language software? Here you’ll find an interesting mixture of sites offering just that!
Latin American Spanish and Spanish for Spain are both on offer if you’re aiming for a totally authentic touch, and you’ll find a good selection of demos, video outlines, and attractive freebies within the sites below, just to whet your appetite!
Let’s get started:
Tell Me More Spanish
The Tell Me More Spanish language software package is divided into 10 levels, covering all the basic skills in addition to grammar, vocab and culture, and includes a speech recognition feature, helping you to assess your pronunciation.
You can listen to lessons on your MP3 player, access online tests – or go for the purely online version of the course.
The site offers a free trial area, where you can access free material for the Spanish or Spanish Latin American languages, and they test your computer for you first to check that it’s compatible for the speech recognition feature – neat! Even if your computer doesn’t pass the test, you can still access most of the materials to get a feel of Tell Me More.
There are plenty of demos and guided tours to show you around, whether you’re an individual, in higher education, wanting a course for K-12s, or homeschooling and so on.
Visual Link Spanish
Visual Link is another spanish language software site, with plenty of free tools and interesting stuff for the budding Spanish language learner. The main aim is to get you speaking and communicating effectively, and the course is broken into themed units such as grammar, going to a restaurant, travel, and survival expressions.
And it seems that you’re also encouraged to start speaking in sentences as soon as possible.
You can sign up immediately for free Spanish lessons – check out the free learning center, too. Visual Link also offer yet another freebie – a pronunciation CD (you pay for postage.) An extremely enthusiastic site offering lots of tasters as to their full course – take a look and see what you think.
Rosetta Stone – Latin American Spanish or Spanish for Spain
Rosetta Stone is one of the most famous language learning software packages in the world, and they offer a range of over 30 languages, including Spanish for both Spain and Latin America.
To access the online demo, I had to sign up with an email address – but it was well worth it. You get a glimpse into how the Rosetta Stone package works, combining images, your intuition, interactivity and instruction into what they call their “dynamic immersion” technique. There was a short lesson in Turkish to try – enjoyable and instructive.
There’s plenty of info if you click to “learn more” from the package description pages, and you can check out samples of the levels and the types of topics you’ll be going through for each level, as well as software and content details for each set.
